The water scenery of Kemijärvi is breathtakingly beautiful. The delta of the Kemijoki River opens to the north of the town and, to the south, there is Kemijärvi, rimmed by forested hills. The mighty Kemijoki River that crosses the town is Finland’s largest river and it offers possibilities for both those navigating in its waters and fishermen. The biggest falls of the Kemijoki River are in Pelkosenniemi. Jänkäläisenkoski are the biggest and most famous falls of Kemijoki River, and both boats and fishermen have passed through its rapids. Higher up, between Pelkosenniemi and Savukoski, the river region is mostly inhabited. The shores of Kemijoki River and its tributaries, which are ideal for camping, has several houses, islands and natural meadows. Grayling, pike, trout, whitefish, perch and whitefish are among the fishes found in the Kemijärvi Lake’s basin. Welcome to enjoy the Kemijärvi Lake’s basin!
