The Pöyliöjärvi beach

Located in central Kemijärvi, the Pöyliöjärvi is Lappland´s Riviera with it´s  fine sand beach just in the middle of Kemijärvi city. There is a  nice summer Cafe Maisemakahvila by the beach. Cafeteria is open during summer time at 12-18:00.(weather permitting). All the city´s facilities are only walk away. Stay over night at the Camping Kemijärvi and enjoy your day by the beach.

The Kalkonniemi beach

Kalkonniemi is a fine sand beach which is suitable for family outings and swimming trips. It is equipped with a changing shelter, a grill shelter, a shed and toilets.

In the summer, visitors to Kalkonniemi can watch birds such as the Red-breasted Merganser (Mergus serrator), the Common Scoter (Melanitta nigra), the Red-throated Loon (Gavia stellata), the Common Crane (Grus grus), the Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula), the Common Tern (Sterna hirundo), the Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisaea) and various gulls. On the fields surrounding the road to the Kalkonniemi beach, you can also observe the Eurasian curlew (Numenius arquata) and other birds. In the winter, the beach is frequented by various birds of the Paridae family, such as the Willow Tit (Poecile montanus), the Siberian Tit (Poecile cinctus), the Eurasian Blue Tit (Parus caeruleus) and the Great Tit (Parus major).
